Risk management and operational resilience are treated as a single capability, integrated through Critical Systems Practice in its Mode 2 form. The integration is structural, not cosmetic, and is built to survive the next change in regulation or operating model because it is not contingent on a vendor’s data schema.

The Kybernetix Practice
Kybernetix is an independent, single-principal risk and resilience advisory practice based in Cambridge, New Zealand. Established in 2024 and led by Dr Dan Norris (DBA, MBA, MInstD), it serves boards, chief executives, chief risk officers, and chief operating officers in asset-intensive and regulated firms across the New Zealand and Australian markets. Services are organised into four families: Frameworks and Architecture, Diagnostics and Reviews, Counsel and Advisory , and Governance. Engagements are taken either direct or under prime contracts with reputable consulting and engineering firms, and the governance practice is deliberately small to avoid conflicts and preserve the candour of advisory work.
Dr Dan Norris (DBA, MBA, MInstD) is the founder and sole principal of Kybernetix. He combines current senior executive responsibility, presently as General Manager, Risk at a large New Zealand based Dairy Cooperative, with a research doctorate from the University of Otago. His thesis integrated Nicholas Rescher’s systematising reasoning for aporetics with Aristotelian phronesis, applied to complex operational risk in high-reliability organisations (HRO). Prior senior roles span operations, engineering, risk, global consulting and assurance leadership. He is a Member of the Institute of Directors and lectures on Strategy, Sustainability, Risk and Governance, and Systems Thinking at the University of Otago. The combination of operational executive currency and methodological depth grounds the Kybernetix delivery of integrated risk and resilience work at a higher analytical standard than is usual in the market.
